SMIP08 Seminar on Utilization of Strong-Motion Data
The California Strong Motion Instrumentation Program (CSMIP) in the California Geological Survey of the state’s Department of Conservation will present a one-day seminar on "Utilization of Strong-Motion Data." The goals of this year’s seminar are to (1) increase the utilization of strong-motion data in improving post-earthquake response, seismic code provisions and design practices; and (2) transfer recent research findings on strong-motion data to practicing seismic design professionals and earth scientists. This year the seminar will feature soil-structure foundation modeling techniques, the Sichuan China earthquake, near fault instrumentation, and other topics. The seminar will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the University of Southern California Davidson Conference Center in Los Angeles. For more information about speakers and topics, visit http://www.consrv.ca.gov/cgs/smip/Pages/seminar.aspx.
