Earthquake Early Warning Software Engineer Positions with USGS

Screen Shot 2016-12-06 at 1.07.49 PMThe U.S. Geological Survey seeks motivated software engineers to contribute to the development of an earthquake early warning (EEW) system for the west coast of the U.S.

EEW uses real-time data from a network of seismic sensors to detect earthquakes and monitor ground motion. Alerts are issued to people and automated systems to take protective action before ground shaking arrives at their location.

Experience in C++ programming is required; solutions must consider scalability, reliability, and high availability. These positions are through Intergovernmental Personnel Agreements (IPA) or InterAgency Agreement (IAA). To be eligible, you must be a regular, full-time employee of a federal, state or local government, a Tribal Authority, or an institution of higher education.
