PEER Annual Meeting 2023 Speaker Bio: Dr. Jason T. DeJong, Professor at the University of California, Davis, is the Director of the UC Davis Center for Geotechnical Modeling and the UC Davis lead for the NSF ERC Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics. Prof. DeJong’s technical contributions have been in the areas soil and site characterization, earthquake engineering, bio-mediated and bio-inspired geotechnics, and geotechnical sustainability. Recent research has focused on the characterization of gravelly soils using laboratory and in situ tests and evaluating how earthen slopes and embankments perform when comprised of gravelly soils. Results from his research program have been disseminated through 250 publications. He has served as a reviewer or technical advisor on civil infrastructure projects. Prof. DeJong’s contributions have been recognized through various awards, most recently as the first recipient of the new ASCE Prakash Award. Updated July, 2023.
