PEER Annual Meeting 2023 Speaker Bio: David Mar founded Mar Structural Design and has practiced for over thirty years, after receiving his BS and MS from Cal Berkeley. He leverages creative design with state-of-the-art analysis to innovate, thus opening opportunities for invention, architectural expression and high-performance. Areas of specialization are seismically resilient designs. He uses system thinking to solve structural problems at scale, such as FEMA P807 – Retrofit Guidelines for Soft-Story Multi-Unit Buildings, and ERIK – Enhancing Resilience in Kyrgyzstan, the World Bank’s risk-based seismic retrofit program for public schools in the Kyrgyz Republic. He has also designed numerous innovative buildings and is currently leading Issue Team 13 – Nurturing Creativity and Innovation, for the BSSC’s Provisional Update Committee. Updated July, 2023
