Missouri S&T and the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Center invite the structural engineering and bridge research community to participate in a blind prediction competition focused on evaluating the dynamic response of full-scale prestressed concrete bridge girders under lateral impact loading. The experiment involves three full-scale 14.02-meter-long MoDOT Type I-2 prestressed concrete girders subjected to lateral impact using a custom-designed gravity-driven impact bogie. Each girder was tested under a distinct boundary condition to investigate the influence of structural boundary conditions on impact behavior. Participants will receive detailed information about the specimen geometry, reinforcement layout, material properties, impact setup, and loading configurations. The goal is to assess the ability of numerical simulation tools and modeling practices to predict critical response parameters under impact conditions.
