For college students in STEM majors, the summer of 2018 presents a prime opportunity for hands-on research experience in the promising field of natural hazards engineering.
The 2018 NHERI REU program provides research opportunities at 10 hazard-engineering, simulation and cyberinfrastructure facilities around the country. Over the course of the summer, students work side-by-side with earthquake, wind, tsunami and coastal engineers, geoscientists, and data scientists – all dedicated to mitigating the effects of natural hazards.
Students: If you are interested in solving engineering challenges presented by earthquakes, tsunamis, windstorms and coastal inundation, this undergraduate research program is for you!
The NHERI REU accepts applications from many majors — and may be of special interest to students majoring in engineering, architecture, meteorology, geoscience and computer science.
Benefits of the NHERI REU include:
• Working with a faculty mentor to conduct research on an established NSF research project.
• Networking with engineering researchers, graduate students, and high-achieving peers.
