PEER Student Committee (PSC) News

October 11, 2022

On September 20th, the PEER Student Committee (PSC) hosted its very first PEER Pitches contest at the 2022 PEER Researchers’ workshop. PEER student researchers, Hojjat Kaveh, Dingbin Li, Steven Kontra, Gustavo Araujo, and Rachel (Ziran) Zhou presented their best research ideas in a rapid-fire, elevator pitch style format to the broader earthquake engineering community. They were judged on research objectives, presentation quality, and technical content. Gustavo Araujo brought home the prize of a gift card and certificate of recognition from PEER, and this initiative brought visibility to student research activities as well as connection between PEER research groups.

On October 3rd, the PSC hosted its annual kickoff meeting. Students from across the PEER institutions and educational affiliates gathered to recap activities from the previous year and discuss new initiatives and onboarding of new committee members for the coming year. The PSC will welcome several new directors, officers, and general members for the 2022-2023 cycle, allowing the PSC to increase our service to the PEER community.
