TSRP Featured at International Bridge Seismic Workshop

October 24, 2019

PEER’s Transportation Systems Research Program (TSRP) was highlighted in a keynote presentation given by Dawn Lehman, Professor at the University of Washington, at the 2019 Third International Bridge Seismic Workshop held at the University of Washington on October 2-3, 2019. The workshop was jointly sponsored by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Washington, the Washington Department of Transportation, Tongji University, and International Association of Bridge Earthquake Engineering (IABEE). Participants were from the US, China, Italy, New Zealand and included prominent researchers, transportation officials, and practicing engineers. The theme of the conference was “Seismic-Hazard Mitigation Measures for and Strategies of Transportation Infrastructure”. The PEER TSRP program fit this theme well, and Professor Lehman’s presentation highlighted PEER TSRP research, including new ground-motion prediction models, testing of existing models and development of new constitutive models for sands and liquefiable soils, advanced technologies to mitigate damage in transportation structures, and transportation network frameworks for seismic resilient communities.
