PEER Annual Meeting 2023 Speaker Bio: Carlos Arteta is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Universidad del Norte, Colombia. He is a member of ACI Committee 318. In addition, he serves on the Steering Committee of StEER and as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for ACI Colombia. Currently, holds the position of Academic Coordinator for Colombia's National Seismic Risk Model. He previously served as the Founding President of CEER - the Colombian Earthquake Engineering Research Network. His research focuses on the response and design of buildings under seismic actions, with particular expertise in analyzing, designing, and evaluating risks associated with reinforced concrete structural systems. He dedicates part of his work to developing ground motion models for Northern South America. Updated July, 2023.
