Sahin, Arda

2025 PEER Annual Meeting Speaker Bio: Arda Sahin is a geotechnical earthquake engineer specializing in liquefaction analysis. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Geotechnical Engineering at UCLA under the supervision of Prof. Scott J. Brandenberg and Prof. Jonathan P. Stewart, working on probabilistic models for liquefaction susceptibility as part of the Next Generation Liquefaction (NGL) project, supported by FHWA and PEER.

He has experience as a graduate researcher and teaching assistant at UCLA and Middle East Technical University, contributing to studies on seismic ground failures and geotechnical design. As part of his M.Sc. studies, he worked with Prof. Kemal O. Cetin on liquefaction triggering in gravelly soils and participated in reconnaissance efforts following the February 6, 2023, Türkiye earthquakes. His industry experience includes geotechnical design engineering, where he has worked on slope stability, deep foundation systems, and ground improvement methods. Updated February, 2025.
