The Ninth Pacific Conference on Earthquake Engineering (9PCEE) will take place in Auckland, New Zealand from April 14 - 16, 2011.
The PCEE, held by the NZ Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE) once every four years since 1975, has grown over time to attract earthquake engineers from throughout the Pacific region and further afield. The 9PCEE again promises to be an important forum for the exchange of findings and experiences in mitigating the effects of earthquake and earthquake related hazards around the Pacific Rim.
The theme chosen for the 2011 conference, 'Building an Earthquake Resilient Society', challenges participants to re-evaluate the requirements of a truly resilient society beyond the engineering context, and to incorporate the social, economic and human dimensions of earthquake engineering. Keynote presentations that explore aspects of the conference theme will be presented by eminent individuals in the field of Earthquake Engineering at the start of each day.
In recognition of the of the impacts of the Darfield earthquake sequence from 4th September, the deadline for abstracts has been extended. Abstracts are now requested no later than 29th October 2010.
