Building Research Institute (BRI) has released ground motion recordings from the March 11, 2011 magnitude 9.0 earthquake in the Tohoku region of northern Honshu, Japan. BRI operates more than seventy strong motion stations deploying in major cities throughout Japan. One third of the stations are placed in Tokyo metropolitan area and its outskirts.

Japan is very heavily instrumented thus it is expected that many additional recordings will eventually become available.
