The wine industry generates over $23 billion in sales that impact the California economy. There are hundreds of thousands of barrels that are stacked in 2-barrel and 4-barrel configurations, 6 barrels high. Testing at the PEER-UC Berkeley Shake Table was conducted in December 2014 by private industry to observe and better understand the behavior of the stacked configurations when subjected to earthquake ground motions.
