The scope of work is to develop a list of “index building” characteristics that represent the typical features and conditions of at-risk single-family wood-frame cripple wall houses that are common in California. The emphasis will be on identifying and characterizing the common variants, combinations of materials and construction types, and essential features in the index house configurations that can be readily identified and influence the resulting loss functions. The definition of index buildings and the types of cripple wall and sill plate retrofits considered for the buildings (including the performance targets for the retrofits) will be coordinated with the ATC 110 project.
