Structural analysis models of the various index buildings (from Working Group 2) will be developed and subjected to suites of earthquake motions of increasing intensity. The non-linear dynamic analyses will employ state-of-the-art computational systems and ground motion hazard characterization, and they will be carefully calibrated and benchmarked with physical data obtained from dynamic and quasi-static subassembly and component tests (from Working Group 4). The resulting database of demand parameters will feed into the loss assessment.
