In 2018, the NISEE-PEER Earthquake Engineering Library received a generous donation of several thousand earthquake images in slide format from two world-renowned pioneers in the field of earthquake engineering, UC Berkeley Emeritus Professors, Vitelmo Bertero  and Stephen Mahin.

A short video summarizing the overarching themes of the 2019 PEER Annual Meeting,  “Seismic Resilience 25 Years after Northridge:
Accomplishments & Challenges” has been released.

PEER has just released a LaTex report template for use in creating PEER-formatted research reports.  This template was developed in response to requests from researchers to include a LaTex template in addition to the current WORD template.  This LaTex template approximates as closely as possible the current WORD template.

PEER has continuing funding from the State of California related to the seismic performance of transportation systems. This funding supports the Transportation Systems Research Program (TSRP), the purpose of which is to lessen the impacts of earthquakes on the transportation systems of California, including highways and bridges, port facilities, high-speed rail, and airports.

The impact of a PEER funded research project, "How the Water/Binder Ratio and Voids Affect the Performances of Hardened Concrete Subjected to Fire" is highlighted below. The project Principal Investigator (PI) is Kamran M. Nemati, Associate Professor, University of Washington. The research team includes Alessandro P. Fantilli, Associate Professor, Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy and Nicholas A Dembsey, Professor, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Massachusetts.

The Structural Extreme Events Reconnaissance (StEER) Network , whose mission is to deepen the structural natural hazards engineering (NHE) community’s capacity for reliable post-event reconnaissance, has released a Preliminary Virtual Assessment Team (P-VAT) Report for the November 30, 2018, Alaska Earthquake.

A M7.0 earthquake struck Anchorage, Alaska, on November 30, 2018, 8:29 AM local time. Whereas an initial tsunami warning has been lifted and initial reports of life loss and injury are few, the impact to buildings, infrastructure, and the economy is still being evaluated as numerous aftershocks have been recorded after the initial event.

The research team includes Jinchi Lu, Associate Project Scientist, UC San Diego and Abdullah S. Almutairi, Graduate Student Researcher, UC San Diego.
